I Don’t Want This White Moonlight Anymore! C7.1

C7.1

On Zhuo Zhiying’s birthday, the weather wasn’t too good. There was a light drizzle and a strong wind when Zhao Yinqing reached the city centre based on the little bits of information left in her memory. There, she went to a shop selling Korean food to wait for the pair of rabbits.

It was only when her plate of spicy stir-fried rice cakes had been completely cleaned off did she finally catch sight of the two pieces of trash.

Without saying a word, she took a picture of them with her phone and silently followed after them.

The two were still slightly cautious, entering the hotel five minutes after each other.

But for Zhao Yinqing, even if they’d waited for half an hour, she’d still catch them.

Teo hours later, the two left the hotel with their arms around each other’s shoulders. After all, they’d just rolled around in bed, so their faces were completely red and they didn’t even have a shred of basic decency to try and hide their actions.

Both of them cozied up to each other as they walked down the street and entered a jewellery store. Looking from a distance, Zhao Yinqing saw that it seemed like Zhuo Zhiying was buying the man a gift.

This little duckling had really earned a lot!

At four or five in the evening, the two then took a taxi to a place outside the city centre, where there were mostly privately-owned houses, most of them being landed houses with their own courtyards. The only unique feature about them is that they were all old, and were especially dreary looking in comparison to those high-rise apartments.

Zhao Yinqing followed them and turned into a smaller road. There, some residents were washing their vegetables out in the open, next to the wells, and there were groups of people chit-chatting to each other.

Then, she turned again, this time into a narrower road, where there were rubbish bins in front of each road and a terrible stench could occasionally be smelled.

Frowning, Zhao Yinqing raised her phone and started to take pictures again. This time, she’d prepared for this, so she’d like to see how Zhuo Zhiying could get out of this situation.

Her lips curled into a sinister smile, but as she slowly backed up two steps, she suddenly bumped into someone.

Frightened, she let go of her phone. But it was immediately caught in mid-air by another hand, which had slender fingers and distinct joins. It was clearly a male hand, but it didn’t have the roughness of a man, but was instead white and soft like jade, making it look extremely good.

Zhao Yinqing moved her gaze upwards from that hand, and saw a black sweater, a distinct Adam’s apple, a defined and gentle chin, and then thin lips and sparkling eyes.

Sun Lu flipped the phone over and looked at her. “What are you doing here?”

She stared at the phone in his hands, pursed her lips, and didn’t speak.

He shook the phone and asked, “What’s this?”

“A phone.”

“What are you taking pictures of?”

“…”

Sun Lu stared at her for a few seconds, and then asked, “Are you stalking me?”

At this, Zhao Yinqing finally raised her head, her face full of astonishment, and she quickly shook her head. “No, no, you misunderstood, I’m not stalking you.”

“Then why are you here?”

In her heart, Zhao Yinqing silently thought: Even if I’m here it doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m stalking you. What did I do wrong? I’ve already gotten so much grief so why would I stalk you?

Sun Lu then asked again, “Exactly what are you taking pictures of?”

Zhao Yinqing didn’t want to be involved with him in any way, and neither did she want to have any communication with him at all. Moreover, she didn’t know when Zhuo Zhiying would leave the alley, so now all she wanted to do was leave the scene.

“I’m just taking pictures of something small, it has nothing to do with you.” Zhao Yinqing glanced at the building that Zhuo Zhiying had disappeared into and urged him, “Give me back my phone.”

“Delete the photos you took.”

She frowned, “I already told you that they don’t involve you at all.”

“Delete them.”

Her expression became slightly upset. Although she’d already gathered enough evidence to prove that Zhuo Zhiying had been cheating on her dad, and the video wasn’t that important, it was still obvious that Sun Lu suspected that she’d been following him.

She’d never done anything wrong, so why did she have to admit to anything?

She spoke up, “If I said that I’m not following you then I’m really not following you. Don’t you think you’re being too narcissistic right now? You think that just because I’m a girl, I need to look up to you and worship you?”

Sun Lu’s gaze, which could still be considered neutral before, cooled, and became cutting.

“Zhao Yinqing!”

Suddenly, a rusty iron door opened, and a beautiful and gentle middle-aged woman exited. She had a floral apron hanging around her neck, and her long, slightly curly hair was tied behind her while she wore a pair of black cloth shoes on her feet.

Looking at them in surprise, Liu Siqi said, “Are you two classmates? Hurry up and invite her in!”

Even before Sun Lu could open his mouth, Zhao Yinqing had already started shaking her head like crazy. Never in her wildest dreams had she ever thought that she’d meet Sun Lu’s mother out here.

In her previous life, she’d also been over to Sun Lu’s house, but that had happened after graduation, and their house hadn’t been located here by then.

Thinking that Zhao Yinqing was just being polite, Liu Siqi smiled at her and said, “I remember you! Last time in the shopping mall you were there with your dad, right? Quickly come in and take a seat, it’s rare for a classmate of Sun Lu’s to stop by.”

“Thank you Auntie, but it’s okay, I don’t want to be a bother. I was just passing by.”

Liu Siqi’s personality was kind and gentle, and she was also pragmatic and not the kind of person to force others, so after being rejected she could only hesitate and look towards Sun Lu.

As for Sun Lu, Zhao Yinqing’s phone was still in his hands, and if he let her go now, he’d also have to return her the phone immediately.

“Ah Lu,” Liu Siqi called.

Zhao Yinqing also followed her and whispered, “Return me my things and I’ll leave.”

According to her knowledge of his reticent personality, Zhao Yinqing assumed that he’d quickly give her back her things, and no longer care too much about this incident. But Sun Lu actually didn’t do as she’d thought he would.

Instead, he calmed down and thought for a while, before waving at her and saying, “Come in.”

Their house was a three-room flat, about one and a half stories high with an attic. She didn’t know whether it was for people to stay or for people to store things inside. There were some simple decorations around, the floor was tiled, and the walls were painted white, with a large painting of mountains and lakes hung on them.

Liu Siqi was making dinner, and after bringing a plate of fruits for Zhao Yinqing, she continued to keep herself busy.

“Sit.” Sun Lu threw the phone onto the sofa before he went to the kitchen to help out.

From Zhao Yinqing’s point of view, the two seemed to be talking. Liu Siqi was smiling, and although Sun Lu’s expression was as emotionless as usual, but somehow it looked like there was some warmth present in his eyes.

Previously, she’d never seen this kind of scene in her life. It wasn’t that it hadn’t existed, but that Sun Lu had never given her the chance to view it.

Comparing her two lives, currently Zhao Yinqing was more like a stranger to Sun Lu, but in her past life she couldn’t even measure up to a stranger.
