I Don’t Want This White Moonlight Anymore! C4.1

C4.1

After the monthly exams, the school was abuzz with the talk of a new transfer student.

No. 1 High School’s Sun Lu, with both outstanding grades and looks. It was rumoured that he wanted to move to Yingcai High School, and that the school had especially reduced the tuition for him.

But exactly when would this handsome brother be coming over? People gave out all kinds of suggestions. At the start of the month? The end? The middle?

Meanwhile, Zhao Yinqing sat on her seat, not listening to other people’s conversations and only caring about her own studies.

On Wednesday morning, owing to an upset stomach, the moment Zhao Yinqing stepped into school, she immediately went to the toilet, and it was only when the bell had rung did she rush over to the classroom.

The class, which was usually noisy like a marketplace, had suddenly quieted that morning.

The form teacher had brought the new student to the front and had been introducing him at that very moment.

His profile was tall and handsome, like bamboo, and hearing the faint noise he looked over towards her. His soft bangs ended at his eyebrows, and his two eyes were dark and deep, conveying a sense of otherworldly tranquility. His facial features were meticulously crafted and incredibly attractive, like a work of art, and his temperament seemed slightly cold and undisturbed.

It was because he looked too good that Zhao Yinqing couldn’t stop herself from staring for a moment.

In her past life, she’d gone to all possible lengths to please this man, not caring about the eyes full of contempt around her. She’d thought that there was nothing wrong with liking somebody — she liked him, so she’d treated him well, and nobody could fault her for that.

Like that, she’d persevered through 12 entire years, watching the young boy grow up into a mature man, even though she herself had never once been apart of his life.

It had been far too traumatic. For Zhao Yinqing, who had already died once, she didn’t even want to think back on that time.

Clearing her face of any emotion, she quickly turned away.

The form teacher frowned and asked, “Zhao Yinqing, what happened? Where did you go, you’re late.”

“I had a stomachache.”

“Hurry up and go to your seat.”

Zhao Yinqing hurriedly brisk-walked over, but the closer she got the more anxious she became, as the slender figure of the boy came near to her almost instantly.

For some reason, when she looked at him, she inexplicably felt scared. Maybe it was due to all the distracting thoughts flying about, but her steps became chaotic, and she embarrassingly tripped on a stair nearing the podium.

Sun Lu subconsciously reached out and steadied her.

In a flash, Zhao Yinqing pulled her hand back as though she’d been bitten by a snake, gave him a horrified look, and then continued to run with her head down.

The students, who’d watched the entire scene, had different ideas.

Someone whispered, “Wow, it’s really Zhao Yinqing. She really made her move quick this time, but more importantly, isn’t this tactic a little bit too clumsy?”

“Once she met a handsome guy, her face must’ve gotten thicker.”

Shi Tingting frowned with disdain, feeling disgusted internally yet also feeling slightly envious.

After that day, there would be girls from other classes hanging around the doorway of Class 3 all the time, and it became a lot more lively.

Sun Lu sat all the way at the back, and rarely went out, much less walked too close to anybody.

His classmates took the initiative to approach him, and his attitude was neither warm nor cold, with most of his answers being one-word replies.

Despite him being cold and slightly unapproachable, there was practically nobody that had a bad impression of him. Perhaps it was due to his good grades, or because his forever cold temperament gave people the feeling that he was just like that, but no matter how much he slighted other people, it still seemed very normal.

As for the girls, this kind of spotless and clean attitude was especially attractive, and everyone wanted to become that special, unique existence to him.

Zhao Yinqing never even looked towards the direction of Sun Lu, and that little corner was like a metal pot covered with dust, carrying traces of a long past  so mottled that people dare not remember.

Class 3’s monthly exam scores hadn’t lived up to expectations, and in order to give students greater motivation to study, the teacher came up with a new initiative at that boring stage. The entire class would draw lots to form teams and study. The class would first be split into the good and bad students, and they would draw lots to form pairs.

On the day of the class meeting, the form teacher brought in two boxes, making it seem like a lucky draw event at the supermarket. The whole class then queued up according to their monthly test scores, and began to draw lots starting from the last person.

Soon, it was Zhao Yinqing’s turn. Naturally, she hoped that she could pick Dou Na. After all, the two had already been seatmates for so long, so it was more convenient for her.

Opening up the note, she found out that she’d drawn the English class representative, who was tall and round and wore a pair of black glasses. He was a guy whose laugh was loud and sounded like “hahaha”.

The seats also had to be moved accordingly. After the class had moved, Zhao Yinqing turned around and got a shock.

Right across the aisle was the source of all her nightmares — Sun Lu.

Zhao Yinqing felt like she was too unlucky. Was it time to find some incense and worship Buddha?

Before the whole class could get used to their seats, she found her original table, and prepared to swap seats with the girl there.

The girl at the table was an easily frightened and shy little girl. After finding out the reason why Zhao Yinqing had come to her, and then realising that she’d have to be neighbours with Sun Lu, she immediately rejected the offer.

Quietly, she whispered, “Whenever I see handsome guys, I’ll get scared.”

Sis, whenever I see this particular handsome guy I get so scared I want to jump in a river.

Zhao Yinqing’s expression looked slightly constipated as she prepared to find another suitable person, but before she could, the form teacher spoke, “Quickly sit down after changing positions. Don’t look around anymore. You will still sit according to your grades after the next monthly exams, so treasure your friendship with your seatmate for this month and take this chance to study.”

Full of grief, Zhao Yinqing returned to her seat, and spoke one or two sentences to her seatmate before sitting down, frightened out of her wits, for the entire afternoon.

At noon, she went to the cafeteria to have lunch, and Zhao Yinqing sat down at the same table with Dou Na. Dou Na’s current seatmate was ranked third last, and belonged to Shi Tingting’s group. She’d heard that their entire group had practically gone crazy, wanting to be near Sun Lu, but it was too bad that he hadn’t attended the last monthly exam, so he wasn’t anywhere near the scope of their lots, and this “grand prize” had to wait until next month to be won.

However, Zhao Yinqing was now seated next to this ‘grand prize’, and many people were so envious that their eyes turned red.

TL Notes

Scheduled this to be posted at 9AM GMT!

Today someone I’ve barely talked to slid into my DMs, but honestly he seems like he’s just trying to be friendly? I guess because school’s over and it’ll be difficult to talk to everybody from now on 😦 Treasure your time in school kids.

Also, about the reviews thing, thanks to everybody who commented on it! I don’t really mind too much if it’s low, especially since this seems to happen to every new story.
