I Don’t Want This White Moonlight Anymore! C5.1

C5.1

It had been a while since their last encounter in the toilet. At that time, Zhao Yinqing’s words had been swift and decisive, but afterwards her passion had vanished, and Sun Lu had enough reason to suspect that this person had purely been bullshitting.

Even now, after being hit by a pen, she still had no reaction. She didn’t even reach up to rub her head, much less turn to look at him.

When he heard Ke Junzhi ask if she was alright, Zhao Yinqing shook her head, and replied so softly that he couldn’t hear it.

Sun Lu lowered his head and continued to write on his paper. On it was a whole bunch of numbers and symbols, as he was trying to calculate Sun Siqi’s salary for the previous month.

Sun Siqi felt that the people one surrounded themselves with held a lot of influence over one’s growth, and Yingcai was an elite school. Everybody in there could become Sun Lu’s future contact, so she’d sent him to Yingcai. For this reason, she’d worked hard to continuously save cash, until she’d finally saved enough.

However, he still had to stay for two more years. Although the school had subsidised his school fees, there were other miscellaneous fees that took out a chunk out of her salary, so Sun Siqi left the house early and came back late everyday and had never once stopped working.

She was an assembly worker at a textiles factory and worked for 12 hours each day. Every month, she’d receive six to seven thousand. She would also manually do her budgeting herself daily, but to avoid making any errors, it fell on Sun Lu to be responsible for checking for errors.

After marking out a few sums, he closed the book and put it aside.

Then, he looked at Zhao Yinqing again. Ke Junzhi was smiling happily as he tried to talk to her, but Zhao Yinqing seemed to not have any intention to chat, instead reading attentively.

This person wasn’t very smart, but she did work very hard.

After she stopped interacting with Shi Tingting, her relationship with Zhuo Zhiying, which had never been good in the first place, became even worse.

Nowadays, Zhao Yinqing attended supplementary tuition everyday, so she’d eat dinner later than usual, and would also occasionally eat outside.

“Throw away all of these. They’re eyesores, even the birds wouldn’t eat them.” Zhuo Zhiying followed the nanny into the kitchen for once to order her about. “And these, just throw them away before any worms come to eat them.”

The nanny replied, “I just bought these today, it’s impossible for them to have worms.”

Zhuo Zhiying’s brows wrinkled, and her attitude became more like the mistress of the house, her voice sharp as she said, “Can’t I find them repulsive? Hurry up and throw!”

“But Yinqing hasn’t returned, if we throw everything away, then how will she eat later?”

“It’s not as though we didn’t leave anything for her. If she really can’t take it then take some leftover rice and fry an egg for her. You can’t even do this?”

After being stopped by Zhuo Zhiying, the nanny’s face didn’t look too good. She’d worked at the Zhao family home for many years, and she’d never encountered this kind of attitude once, even with the real owners of the house.

“Throw it. How many times do you need me to tell you?” Zhao Zhiying’s arms crossed over her chest, her feet in a pair of plush slippers. She looked exactly like a rich madam — clad in a black skirt, a burgundy silk shirt and her wavy brown hair draped behind her.

Without saying a word, the nanny dumped all the dishes she’d made in advance into the bin and threw away all the food in the refrigerator.

It was only after this that Zhuo Zhiying was satisfied, and she swayed her hips as she walked away.

That day, when Zhao Yinqing returned, she coincidentally hadn’t eaten out. But when she went through the kitchen to find something to eat, she actually couldn’t find anything.

Hearing some movement, the nanny rushed out.

“Nanny Zhang, where’s my food?”

Nanny Zhang glanced up and whispered, “All of it was thrown away. Ms Zhuo requested it, saying that it wasn’t too good to leave the food for too long, so…”

Her words trailed off as she hesitated, and Zhao Yinqing immediately understood. In a nutshell, Zhuo Zhiying was making life difficult for her. It was probably because she’d made Zhao Zhengyang pretty happy, otherwise she wouldn’t have had this much courage.

“My dad hasn’t come back?”

Nanny Zhang nodded.

“I understand, you can go back to sleep first.”

Nanny Zhang said, “I’ll buy more food tomorrow, and keep it in a different place.”

“No, just do as you normally do.”

Nanny Zhang looked at her with a face full of sadness.

Zhao Yinqing laughed before telling her, “Don’t worry, it’s alright.”

Then, she turned around and returned to her room. There, she went online to buy a mini recording camera, and put it in the kitchen when there was nobody around. Then she went and bought a box of noodles home before placing it in the fridge.

That very night, Zhuo Zhiying repeated her actions. Not only did she throw away the dinner, she also threw away the noodles that Zhao Yinqing had bought for herself.

Looking at the monitoring screen on her phone, Zhao Yinqing’s mouth curled up coldly.

Recently, Zhao Zhengyang had been incredibly busy with the company, He only returned home every few days, and every time he’d ask about the children.

As she helped him take off and hang his coat, Zhuo Zhiying said, “Both of them are doing alright. Yinqing is still going to tuition every day, it seems like she’ll do better in the next monthly exams.”

“Are you two getting along?”

“It’s mostly the same as before. We don’t talk too much, so that I won’t obstruct her eyes.” Zhuo Zhiying’s voice sounded wronged.

Zhao Zhengyang turned around and squeezed her cheeks lightly, saying, “Ah, sorry for making you feel like this. Alright, let’s stop thinking about the children. After a while, Yinqing will naturally come to accept you.”

Zhuo Zhiying let out a low “en.”

Then, the two turned their attention away and prepared to take a bath together.

Out of the blue, there was a sudden loud “bang”, and Zhuo Zhiying was shocked, asking, “What’s happening downstairs.”

Zhao Zhengyang adjusted his coat before saying, “Let’s go down and see.”

The two hurriedly rushed down, and Shi Tingting also walked out. Zhuo Zhiying held onto her hand, and pulled her close.

In the kitchen, Zhao Yinqing stood alone under the cold white lights, breaking everything she could get her hands on, her face blank.

Zhao Zhengyang was furious. “Why’re you crazily acting up so late at night?”

“I’m acting crazy?” Zhao Yinqing’s voice was emotionless. “Ask your woman what kind of good thing she’s been doing recently.”

Zhuo Zhiying bit her lip, her face full of hurt.

Zhao Yinqing said, “Why’re you still pretending to be innocent? Since your man is here so you start acting weak? Aren’t you usually pretty unreasonable?”

“Zhao Yinqing!” Zhao Zhengyang warned, “Is there anyone else who talks like this to an elder?”

“Is she qualified to act as my elder?”

Zhuo Zhiying acted like she’d just been hit hard, and took a step forward in tears. “Yinqing, what have I done? To make you hate me so much?”

Laughing lightly, she replied, “Your acting skills are really very good, why haven’t you gotten an Oscar yet? I already come home late, yet you aren’t even willing to coexist peacefully with me for this short amount of time. Instead you make life difficult for me. Now, you’re just starving me. But next time, will you chase me out of my own home?”

Zhao Zhengyang swept his gaze over the kitchen. She’d smashed everything she could, but there were a few plates with food that had clearly been specially prepared.

“What are those? Are they just to feed the dogs then?”

Her voice low, Zhuo Zhiying said, “Those are the dishes I made specially for Yinqing.”

Shi Tingting cried aloud, “Zhao Yinqing, you better not go too far! My mom actually made these for you, but what are you doing now?”

Zhao Zhengyang patted Zhuo Zhiying on the back, trying to placate her, gently saying, “How come you’re the one who made them? What about the nanny? Haven’t we always invited a nanny to our house?”

“A few days ago, Nanny Zhang told me that she had some sudden things to take care of so she couldn’t continue. I saw that she really looked like she couldn’t wait, so I agreed, and I haven’t found a new nanny yet.”

Zhao Yinqing didn’t say anything before she unplugged the rice cooker and threw it to the ground.

With a bang, the steaming hot rice fell out.

The mother-daughter pair couldn’t help but scream. Shi Tingting yelled out, “Zhao Yinqing, are you fucking out of your mind?”

Zhao Yinqing tilted her head with a mean look, her expression blatantly asking ‘what can you do to me’.
