I Don’t Want This White Moonlight Anymore! C1.1

C1.1

What were the chances of surviving after falling five stories down?

Zhao Yinqing didn’t know, and anyway she hadn’t survived. Looking down at the woman lying on the ground, her hair spread out around her, she knew that she had already died.

To be honest, she felt like her death had been far too unjust. Just because she’d wanted to grab the phone that had slipped from her hands, she’d lost her life. She’d been about to give up on Sun Lu, and turn over a new leaf to start her life again, yet at this stage someone had suddenly written in a full-stop to put an end to her life.

Was this what they called karma? Had she truly owed him this in her past life?

Zhao Yinqing couldn’t understand this, but she understood that now her confusion was meaningless.

Someone had called the police, and very soon a police car had whizzed over, and carried the rumoured ‘woman who’d sacrificed herself for her one-sided love’ into the car.

It really hadn’t been her throwing her life away for love, argued Zhao Yunqing helplessly, but unfortunately no one could hear her.

Because it was clear that she was already dead, after her family had confirmed her identity, she’d immediately been hauled over to the crematorium, and a temporary mourning hall had been set up for one night. The next day, her body had become a pile of ashes. Looking at those familiar faces sobbing in sorrow, maybe it was because her spirit had already cut off all worldly connections, but she couldn’t bring herself to feel anything.

Her death had been sudden, so her burial ceremony had also been rather crude.

Half a day had passed, and the originally noisy cemetery became quiet. After lighting the incense, people started to leave one by one.

Zhao Yinqing floated beside her grave all by her lonesome, not knowing what to do next. Life after death was honestly slightly boring, and there seemed to be no need to reincarnate? How long did she need to be a lonely ghost for?

She tried to float elsewhere, but something seemed to be stopping her, and she didn’t even need to think about seeing the world outside of her 10 metre bubble. For three days, she continued staring at the scenery, until finally, another person came by.

Someone who had never even appeared before her after her death — Sun Lu.

She’d actually felt disappointed before. She’d chased him for more than ten years after all! Even if there wasn’t any love between them, at least there was still some semblance of feelings right? Yet even after her death, he actually hadn’t come to send her off. But it was alright. She’d already died, there was no use caring about it.

But then, a few days had already passed. Why had he come now?

That beautiful face of his didn’t look too good, and the closer he got the worse it looked. In fact, it looked slightly sinister. Zhao Yinqing was slightly worried that he’d smash her own grave.

There was no way… right?

No matter how bad their relationship had been, it hadn’t been that bad… right?

Sun Lu wore a black suit, and his usual meticulously styled hair rested limply on his forehead. His face looked narrower, with his jawbones more distinct, and his clear, dark eyes stared at the photograph on the tombstone.

The photograph was of Zhao Yunqing at 26 years old, with a grin on her lips, looking slightly simple-minded. She seemed like a little heroine, the kind of person who could live well and happily no matter what.

However, she’d died.

He’d taken one step forward, but this person had somehow taken a step backwards and jumped.

“Do you blame me?” Sun Lu opened his mouth, his voice hoarse, as though he hadn’t spoken in a while.

Zhao Yinqing, floating calmly beside him, sighed. Of course she didn’t blame him. Anyway he’d gotten quite a shock, and it didn’t matter anymore.

Sun Lu spoke, “Are you taking revenge on me? Because I was dismissive of you, because I didn’t like you, so you simply chose to use your death to end it all, and make me into a sinner? So now, for the rest of my life, everyone will point at me and say I made someone lose their life.”

Zhao Yinqing was stunned, staring at the faint hatred on his face.

“If you wanted to die so badly then why didn’t you just die quietly? Did you really have to see me for one last time before dying? What’s it worth now? Why did you even tell me? Yes, I really hate you now, hate you for always having that uncaring look. Your mouth says that you like me, but when you turn around you can just laugh and pretend like nothing happened. Your way of thinking is really good, really capable.”

“You pretended that your love was really deep, but in reality was it really?”

Sun Lu, infamously known as the reticent prince, suddenly opened his mouth and spoke more than he’d ever done before. The cold air around his person completely disappeared, and he became more irritable and lacked restraint.

She’d never seen this kind of Sun Lu who’d lost his attitude, and Zhao Yinqing felt both shocked and slightly hurt.

Even before her death, she’d never heard him speak so harshly, yet after her death he suddenly started speaking like that, wasn’t it a little too much? Although she was only a spirit, she still had feelings! Had it really been that terrible, being liked by her? Just how much hatred had accumulated for him to start scolding her like this after her death?

Frowning, she quietly listened to Sun Lu’s complaints, and felt like even her death had been a mistake.

Sun Lu cursed and scolded, and out of the blue he lost control and swept all of the sacrifices off her grave. With a crash of ‘ping pang ping pang’, the originally clean grave became a mess.

He’d really come just to smash her grave?

Zhao Yinqing lowered her head silently, feeling the sudden urge to go to the grave next door.

“I’m already dead, why do you need to do this?” She helplessly asked.

Sun Lu, who was on the verge of mania, was taken aback for a moment, his expression filled with blankness and fragility.

Not noticing this, Zhao Yinqing continued in a low voice, “Anyway you’ve already said all that you need to say, after this I won’t be around to annoy you anymore, so don’t continue spitting on my grave. Hearing you say all this makes me feel terrible.”

“Zhao Yinqing!” Sun Lu suddenly yelled. “You get out and face me right now!”

Yet Zhao Yinqing hadn’t heard him, as her spiritual body had suddenly become transparent, and she could only stare in shock at her own hand.

Opposite her, Sun Lu began to yell like crazy. Out of anger, or maybe excitement, his face changed colours, but no matter how hard he yelled, he never got a reply.

“How could you die?” Sun Lu stumbled before his knees crashed on the ground, voice shaking in despair. “I don’t believe it!”

TL Notes:

Pretty sure she died right in front of him. Poor dude must’ve gotten a shock.

Characters:

Zhao Yinqing: our protagonist, who died a sad death at 26 when she was about to get over her first love, Sun Lu. Reincarnates. Also thinks that Sun Lu hates her guts.

Sun Lu: the male lead, who saw said protagonist die from falling down 5 stories. I have no idea how these stairs work. Clearly liked Zhao Yinqing, but ignored her (?) and then majorly regretted it after she died. Somehow able to hear her as a ghost.
